CHAIRMAN RICHARD POOLE INTERVIEWED ON WHQR RADIO

Newly elected Chairman Richard Poole was interviewed on WHQR today regarding the current state of the New Hanover County Democratic Party.

Richard discussed his goals of helping energize the party and providing support to progressive local candidates. He also commented on the proposed voter ID law, Titan, and the Racial Justice Act.

NHC DEMOCRATIC PARTY ANNOUNCES NEW OFFICERS

Richard Poole has been elected to head the New Hanover County Democratic Party following today’s election of officers at the Democratic County Convention held in the former county courthouse.
Elected with Mr. Poole were First Vice-Chair Veda Wilson, Second Vice-Chair Susanne Werner and Third Vice-Chair Jeremy Wilson. The new Treasurer is Brenda Fong and the Secretary is Jennifer MacNeish.

Mr. Poole said he was honored to be elected to help lead New Hanover Democrats. “Democrats are the party of equality, opportunity and fairness,” he said. “Our opponents may say they share those values, but in reality every day brings more news about the ways in which they want to move us backwards on jobs, civil rights, education, voting, reproductive rights, health care, the environment and more. I am looking forward to a vigorous public discussion of policies that benefit the citizens of New Hanover County.”

He added, “Democrats put the people of New Hanover County first, ahead of ideology and party. We need to turn the shock and despair we feel about what is happening at the state level into action. We need to move forward together now to make progress for the citizens of New Hanover County. I am calling on New Hanover Democrats to become a forceful agent for change.”

Mr. Poole thanked the outgoing chairman Alex Hall, saying “I want to thank Alex for his leadership through these difficult times.” The incoming officers will assume their responsibilities immediately.
